HASH Controller Q&A

First Cable to Controller
Ensure you have purchased the cable to connect the first fixture to the HASH before you begin installation. Click the following links to view/purchase the correct cable.  HASH to HID Cable   HASH to LED Cable

What is the HASH Controller compatible with?
The HASH Controller works with everything that runs 0-10V, 1-10V, 5-10V

Why does my light turn on and off instantly?
This occurs if your terminal hubs are not connected to your temperature probes. Your temperature probes must be connected to the HASH Controller for the application to operate. There are automatic rules embedded in the software to make sure your garden is safe.

Why do I get an error when trying to connect my Hash Controller via wifi?

Ensure your location services are turned ON in the ILUMINAR Lighting Controller mobile application in order to properly install and connect to the HASH Controller for the first time. If location services are turned off, you will not be able to connect to the HASH Controller.

What does the HASH Controller do without the addition of the HASH Environmental Sensor?
The HASH Controller alone will monitor and control lighting (turning lights on and off as well as dimming) remotely via the ILUMINAR Lighting Controller iPhone/Android App. It will display in realtime the temperature as well as historical data of the grow environment and it also has 2 hard-wired relays onboard (1 per zone). The relays can be used to connect any piece of equipment you’re running and can operate 0-48V [0-10, 0-24 and 0-48V]. You can then set them to turn on or off or automatically trigger based on conditions you set in the application. (For example, you can have the power relay plugged into your dehumidifier so you can also monitor and control the humidity in the grow room remotely).

DE TROUBLESHOOTING

DE TROUBLESHOOTING

Follow the troubleshooting tips below. If troubleshooting techniques fail, bring ballast back to your place of purchase with the original receipt from date of purchase to request warranty service. Any warranty is only valid from the original date of purchase and does not reset if a replacement product is issued.

DE TROUBLESHOOTING

LAMP LOOSE IN SOCKET: Make sure that the lamp is fully inserted into the socket and that is has been locked in properly.

INCORRECT VOLTAGE: Make sure you are using the correct input voltage with ballast. If using incorrect voltage, disconnect the ballast from the power source immediately.

DEFECTIVE OR IMPROPER WIRING: Examine wiring to ensure it agrees with wiring diagrams on ballast label. Check connections to see that they are secure. If wiring a 240V ballast, DO NOT use a neutral. The correct wiring is two hot wires and a ground.

POOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS: Check wiring and lamp contact with socket. Make sure the DE lamp wires are seated correctly in the sockets, and the sockets are in the closed and locked position.

INCORRECT LAMP: Verify that you are using a correct wattage Double Ended high frequency lamp.

LAMP DAMAGE: Investigate possibility of outer lamp damage.Look for broken tubes or loose metal parts. Replace lamp.

INSTALLATON PROCEDURE

DE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

We strive to deliver the best product possible and will do our best to make sure you are satisfied. The following is a general set of warnings and basic guidelines for your product. Always have an expert(s) install your fixtures when possible.

DO NOT DISPOSE OF ORIGINAL PACKAGING

All returns will need to be in the original ILUMINAR packaging in order to avoid product damage during shipping. Any damage to products not in their original packaging will not be covered under warranty.

SAFETY FIRST!

Failure to observe the following safety warnings and or instructions may result in serious injury. In addition, failure to follow these safety warnings can/will result in a waiver of all liabilities and will void all warranties.

READ BEFORE INSTALLATION

  • If the lamp is damaged in any way (cracks, loose internal connections), replace lamp immediately.

  • When changing out the lamp, make sure that the lamp has time to cool before touching.

  • Make sure to wear proper gloves to protect from the transfer of oil from the skin to the lamps glass surface.

  • Make sure lamp is correctly locked into the Roll Lock Socket, properly securing the lamp.

  • Make sure power cord and lamp cord are connected properly.

  • Disconnect power before changing the lamp.

  • DO NOT open the ballast case, it will void the warranty.

  • DO NOT support the ballast by power cord(s) and/or lamp cord(s). These cords/connections are not designed to bear weight.

  • DO NOT make contact with the interior of the socket while power is on.

  • DO NOT plug the system into untested or unidentified voltage other than what is designated on ballast.

  • DO NOT attempt to rewire, alter, modify or reconfigure your system - this will void the ILUMINAR warranty and could cause serious safety hazards, or cause bodily injury or death, as this is a high amperage and voltage device.

  • DO NOT submerge in water.

  • DO NOT plug or unplug the lamp cord while the ballast is connected to power.

  • DO NOT use this with a flip or switch box system, it will void the warranty.

  • DO NOT plug or unplug the lamp cord while the ballast is connected to power.

  • Keep away from children.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

When possible, have a licensed/certified/insured electrician install fixtures or aid in the electrical layout plans and/or diagrams prior to installation. Request A Professional Light Layout

WIRING VERY IMPORTANT!

All digital ballasts may malfunction if the circuit has a neutral. The input for the ballast is 2 HOT WIRES and 1 GROUND WIRE. If you are using a light controller ONLY bring a ground wire and two hot leads from your electrical panels.

Check electrical panel to ensure proper voltage is available for the number of fixture installed. Panels should only support a total amperage of 80% of its capacity (100 amp panel should never exceed 80 amps).

For proper lamp break-in, we recommend that you run the remote ballast and lamp at 100% power for at least 100 straight hours after initial startup. This will improve lamp life and performance.

Prior to plugging power into unit, install ILUMINAR DE lamp into the fixture, be sure to wear proper gloves when handling the lamp. DO NOT FRAY Lamp wire ends - watch the Roll Lock Installation Video for proper installation. Make sure both sockets slide back and lock the lamp into position. Lamp should not move freely once locked in on both sides.

  1. Find a suitable location for the ballast with sufficient cooling and away from any heat source.

  2. Install the lamp firmly into the Roll Lock Socket of the reflector and connect the lamp cord to the ballast.

  3. Remove the power cord from the box. Plug the power cord into the power source (electrical outlet).

  4. Once the lamp has fired, set your desired dimming ratio.

  5. Please note that the ballast dims or raises output gradually to protect the lamp, so you might not see an instant increase upon changing your output percentage.

DIMMING

  1. Turn the dimming dial to cycle through the dimming levels.

  2. If your lamp fails to start immediately, DO NOT cycle the power on and off. This can damage the lamp and ballast.

  3. If after 30 minutes your lamp is still not lit, shut off power to the ballast, and reconnect.

  4. This will begin the startup sequence again.

  5. Until the lamp has achieved at least 100 hours of operation, the lamp should never be turned off prior to running at least 15 minutes. In case this happens, WAIT 1 hour before igniting the lamp again.

HOT RE-STRIKE

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that the lamp is given adequate time to cool down before it is reignited. Allow a hot lamp to cool for 1 hour before you try to re-strike it. Hot re-strikes cause permanent lamp failure and lumen output degradations. The lamp should never be turned off before the lamp reaches full intensity, this may shorten its lifespan.

LAMP REPLACEMENT

Be sure to disconnect the power source before changing lamps.

MOUNTING LOCATION

DO NOT install ballasts in areas of high heat, such as an attic, tent or a closed closet. Mount units at least 24-60 inches apart.

Use a hand level on the reflector to make sure the fixture is level to the ground. An unleveled fixture can burn the Lamp emitter incorrectly leading to shorter lamp life, poor lamp performance and lamp failures.

TIMER BOX

If you are connecting a DE Fixture to a timer box, please make sure that it cuts off both legs when timer is switched off. If you continue to supply voltage to your ballast when the timer is switched off, it may damage your ballast.

“FLIP BOX” or “SWITCH BOX”

Do not ever connect a DE Fixture (ballast) to a Flip Box, as it can overload and cause electrical failure within the DE Ballast. Flip or Switch Boxes are not recommended for any DE units or for any high wattage ballast. If it is found a Flip or Switch Box was used it will void your warranty.
